Personal Background

Beth practices in southwestern Colorado, northern New Mexico, and before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. She litigates and has argued before the Colorado Court of Appeals. Beth was chosen as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2014- 2015, and 2019-2021. Beth was nominated for the Gary McPherson Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year award through the Colorado Bar Association in 2015. She was chosen as the Jim Covino Advocate of the Year in 2018 through the Colorado Office of the Child's Representative.
Beth is very involved in the communities of southwestern Colorado and northern New Mexico. She was a board member and is an ongoing volunteer for Companeros: Four Corners Immigrant Resource Center. In addition, she served on the Executive Council for the Colorado Bar Association Young Lawyers Division from 2013-2015. Beth was an advisory board member and a founding board member for the Montezuma School to Farm Project from 2018-2021.
Beth is originally from Rockville, Indiana, and has resided in Colorado since 2008. Since re-locating to the Rocky Mountains, Beth has taken full advantage of the active Colorado lifestyle. She enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and taking her dogs hiking.

Education

Beth received her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. During law school, Beth participated in the Asylum Practicum, taught by Professor Regina Germain. Through the Practicum, Beth provided direct representation to an affirmative asylum seeker and won his case to remain in the United States.
Beth was the Co-President of the Spanish Speaking Lawyers Association. She tutored the daughter of a Spanish speaking university employee, volunteered at Mi Casa and Centro San Juan Diego as an interpreter for Denver Legal Nights, and assisted individuals seeking citizenship during the Ya Es Hora Citizenship Drive. Beth also attended the human rights trial of ex-Peruvian President, Alberto Fujimori, in Lima, Peru, as an international observer on behalf of the Sturm College of Law in January 2009.
Beth interned with the law firm of Marval O’Farrell & Mairal in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and she also worked with prominent immigration firms in Denver, including the Joseph Law Firm and Elkind Alterman Harston, P.C., as well as the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network, a non-profit organization. Beth also interned with Judge Michael Martinez in Denver District Court.
For her undergraduate degree, Beth attended Indiana University and earned a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Criminal Justice and Spanish, with minors in Latin American & Caribbean Studies and Western European Studies. Beth also studied at Tecnológico de Monterrey, in Cuernavaca, Mexico, Ponticifica Universidad Católica del Perú, in Lima, Peru, and at the Universidad de Complutense, in Madrid, Spain. Beth is fluent in Spanish.
