Personal Background
Originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico, Paul has lived in Colorado since 2007. Prior to moving to Colorado, Paul lived and worked in both Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Boston, Massachusetts.
In Santa Fe, Paul acted as Financial Controller and Manager for a private entrepreneur, running several small businesses in the restaurant, nightclub, and art gallery industries. Concurrently, he also launched his own company, 5zero5 Design, which focused on custom fabrication and design, and small business logistics.
In Boston, Paul was an Investment Banking Analyst with SG Cowen Securities Corp., as a member of the Health Care Investment Banking Team. There, Paul focused on emerging markets (less than $1 billion in market capitalization) in the medical technology, life sciences, health care information technology, and e-health sectors. In doing so, he completed transactions in private finance, public finance, and mergers & acquisitions.
Paul is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting, fishing, cycling, sailing, and skiing. Through his side business venture, Finca Projects, LLC, he continues to do design, metal fabrication, and real estate development. Paul was previously a volunteer member of the Durango Fire & Rescue Authority, and has received Wildland Firefighter certification, and was an Emergency Medical Responder. Paul is also involved in vinification, and makes wine in his spare time.

Education
Paul received his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, graduating in the top twenty percent of his class. In law school, he received four Scholastic Excellence Awards for the highest academic performance in the areas of Real Estate, the Mediation & Arbitration Clinical Program, Advanced Civil Procedure, and Criminal Law. Paul was a Mediator in the Student Law Office Mediation & Arbitration Clinic, and was a member of numerous student organizations, including the Construction & Real Estate Law Society, the Land Use Law Society, the Latino Law Students Association, the Natural Resources & Environmental Law Society, and the Student Trial Lawyers Association. His law school experience also included a summer clerkship for the Honorable Robert E. Blackburn in United States District Court for the District of Colorado.
As an undergraduate, Paul attended the Boston University School of Management, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business. Paul graduated from Boston University with honors, receiving Cum Laude distinction.
